True Doom metal in the most extreme way on this sophomore effort from Finlands extreme warriors of doom! Kinda of like early St. Vitus on steroids. Over the top drum solo, sluggish churning rhythms, clean zombie vocals, dark lyrics, killing artwork and just overall DOOM! So authentic in it’s approach, sound and delivery that it’s downright scary. Much better than the debut and putting these guys on the permanent map of Doom. Top contender for doom album of ’04.

Reverend Bizarre/Orodruin: Split LP $13:
Unholy grim Doom Metal that just crushes beyond all recognition! The Rev. track sounds similar to early Vitus and simply reaches an all time high of sheer insanity towards the end of the song with it’s maniacal screams of torture and doom! Pure old school doom of highest order. Orodruin offer us two new skull crushers and sounds a bit more like obscure 70’s evil heavy underground. Broadening their artistic outlook quite a bit with this one and it works quite well indeed. The heavy scene is alive!

Reverend Bizarre: In the Rectory of... CD: $14
Complete slow motion orthodox doom metal in the vein of St. Vitus and early Jack Frost. Vocals very similar to Reagers era Vitus and it shore sounds fine! One of the heaviest and best we’ve heard in recent memory and refreshing to hear some real old school doom metal with no other additives! Get it.

Reverend Bizarre: A Slice of Doom: CD $15:
One of the best new total pure doom acts releases this collection of early demos, unreleased, live and rarities and packaged in a full on booklet with notes, pictures and artwork. This band is one of leading new doom acts and released the total classic Harbinger of Metal earlier this year. Any fan of St. Vitus, Witchfinder General, Trouble, Pentagram, Candlemass, Cathedral and all quality doom should investigate this group!

Riot - Fire Down Under CD $15
Now we're talking real ass kicking! Real songs, razor sharp production, lead guitar from hell, vocals of the gods - just buy this damn thing for a slice of metal history that deserves respect, attention and adulation. Not for wimps!

Riot - Restless Breed CD $15
Another classic re-issue from Metal Blade. This was released after Fire Down Under and sees the band hittin' it with a more raw sound. Necessary sounds for old timers and youngsters alike!

Riot - Inishmore CD $15
One of metals longest running and most well respected bands returns with their best effort in years. Very much for the old school metalhead as this reminds us of classic Rainbow mixed with early Yngwie Malmsteen but much in much more Heavy Metal way. Brings back lots of great memories and feelings of days of yore (sob! sob!).

Ripper: And the Dead Shall Arise: CD $17 LP $20:
Little known underground horror metal jem from the early 80’s on Iron Works/Azra records and finally re-issued with a superior booklet and lyrics/photos. Kinda like a heavy shock rock Alice Cooper thing but more Metal! Corpse painted ghouls blasting out grim rockers and lumbering metal.

Ritual Steel: A Hell of a Knight: CD $14:
Over the top traditional heavy metal that summons up the glorious “true” metal styles of bands like Manowar, Iron Maiden, Accept, old Helloween etc… Anthemic chorus’, dueling lead guitars, galloping rhythms, soaring high end vocals – you get the picture. Quality packaging as usual from the Miskatonic Foundation.

Roachpowder - Viejo Diablo CD $14
Fuckin' A! This is some powerful shit!! Super fuzzed Sabbath blasts and plenty of psychedelic madness filled to the brim. This is one standout release that will find fans of Monster Magnet, Sabbath, Archie Bunker etc... drooling all over themselves! One of our faves for 1999 easily.

Roachpowder - Atomic Church CD $14
Second album of amped up, charged up, electric heavy, HEAVY rock! Their first was a BT fave and this one is no slouch either. Powerful and alive is what we think and feel when this shiny disc spins. Underrated band that deserves much more.

Runemagick: On Funeral Wings: CD $16:
Crunching doom death metal that successfully mixes dirge-like songs with crunchy guitar tones and different tempos to add variety to the mix. Death vox and heavy production. Long disc over and hour long.

Sabians: Beauty For Ashes CD: $13
Highly diverse unit that combines punk, folk, metal and chanting to create a unique brew of hard rock sounds. Featuring ex members of Sleep but this band is no clone – no sir-e!
Way different and completely in a realm of it’s own.

Sally - S/T CD $14
New from the Rise Above stable, and another dose of hefty riff metal. Raw production that gives this one a really blower edge to it. As usual for the label, it's all the way heavy!

Samael Blood Ritual CD $13
If you're searching for the real thing when it comes to doom/deathmetal then look no further than this! In the vein of early Celtic Frost only 5 times the heaviness! Dark and doomy to the limits. One of Johnny boy's (who is that?) personal favorites over here!

Satanic Slaughter - S/T CD $14

Second album of light speed metal assault on the senses. Real death metal done the old way!

Sea of Green - Northern Lights CDEP $10
Much raved about Canadian heavyweights and damn straight as this some top of the line pro stoner rock!

Sea of Green: Chemical Vacation: CD $14
Interesting new record from Canadian rockers. Drawing on old influences like Cream, Hendrix and injecting a more modern approach a’la Queens of the Stone Age this album is both laid back and heavy at the same time. Not really metal or even that heavy for that matter but very true and solid pure rock music that will stand the test of time.

Septic Flesh - Ophidian Wheel CD $17
Dripping with dark occult atmosphere, the band unleashes another high standard collection of hymns. Lots of classical influence, haunting female vocals, and full on nuclear guitar. We rule for this kind of metal!

Serenade: The Serpents Dance CDEP: $8
Wow - long time since we stocked something from this band and they’ve surely improved ten fold! Still firmly entrenched in the death/doom mold (death styled vockills) but displaying a maturity in songwriting and production and incorporating more up tempo passages. Atmospheric production quality lends to the overall doom heavy vibe going on here. For lovers of old Paradise Lost, My Dying Bride etc…

Scald: Will of the Gods is Great Power: CD $17:
Beyond obscure Russian doom metal band that works in the same territory as Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, Thunderstorm etc… and boy howdy do they work it well! Well crafted gloom tunes of lead weight that feeds the need for all things doom metal. Definitely recommended for all quality/class doom fans.

Serenity: Breathing Demons: CD $15: We’ve turned up a few copies of this gem which we stocked in our early catalogs. Underrated classic doom metal from the UK that is along the lines of Solstice (some ex-Solstice members in this band in fact). Last copies in beautiful packaged digi.

Sheavy - Celestial Hi Fi CD $14
Third and best album. As usual the songwriting is diverse and catchy. Last track, "Tales" is an all time doom metal classic!

Latest album from this Florida mob of doom/death freaks. Cranium crushing sounds that peg the meters all the way to the right!

Killer vocals and no bullshit straight up metal here! Powerful sound with an overall speedy Iron Maiden feel but with raw heaviness to add to the fire!

Sleep: Volume One: CD $16
Ah –a! Long out of print and now available again is the debut from this genre defining group. Administering a raw, downtuned guitar sound that would later inspire many a band on the path to heavy this album is where it all started for Matt Pike and crew. Heavy as hell and loaded with Pike’s monster riffing. Sleep.

Hard hitting old school doom metal that's slower than a slug! No messing around here, this is orthodox doom metal with all the evil hell misery and gargantuan guitars that you could ask for!

The bands killing 2000 studio recordings finally given a proper release courtesy of our doom pals at Psychedoomelic Records. Also includes one song from the Iron Kind split 7” and a song from the proper full length released in 2002. Obsessed styled doom groove with emphasis on melody and crafty songwriting. I can dig. I do dig.

Wall of Sleep: Slow But Not Dead: CD $16:
Madre de dios! Damn great news to see and hear a full length from one of Hungary’s finest doomers! The debut e.p. was a fine effort but this is just much much better! More Sabbath grooves than ever, plenty of crushing doom, vocals keep getting better and the songwriting is well done. Primal feel with a raw yet tight and heavy as fark feel to it. Very much recommended and I think if the band continues we’ll see/hear even better down the line!

Wall of Sleep: Overlook the All: CDEP $11
Ex-Mood members get together and bring us hammer crashing doom metal that’s similar to Mood but without the groove aspect. Excellent cover of Sabbath’s “The Wizard” and three originals. Morose, somber and DOOM!

Want, The - Greatest Hits Vol 5 CD $13
A real treat for those into 70's hard/heavy rock. Reminds one of Budgie, Zepellin, Humble Pie etc.. I'd swear this was made in '74!

Warhorse - As Heaven Turns to Ash CD $13
Total fucking apocalypse doom metal thats as heavy as anything we've ever heard!. Soundtrack to the upcoming nuclear holocaust, this is what it's all about when it comes to real heavy shit!

Warlord: Rising Out of the Ashes: CD $17
It’s certain that these guys were doing epic metal before anyone else. (check out the early 80’s Metal Blade albums) and now a comeback and we’re so very glad they’ve done this record. Why? Because this is pure undiluted epic heavy metal that stands in it’s own class. No dirty metal headbanging here (although that too is also good!) but high class, melodic heavy metal with power and bombastic delivery.

Warning - The Strength to Dream CD $17
Devoid of happiness and hope would be a fitting way to describe this collection of pure Doom metal. Similar to early Revelation mixed with a bit of Vitus. Giant guitar sound that recalls the great production of the last While Heaven Wept CD. A must for doom junkie monkees.

Warrior - Ancient Future CD $15
One of the best pure metal cd's in recent years! Amazing production and killer songs with a genuine old school vibe. Highly recommended spikes to the wall classic metal! If you want mediocre metal then go get the new Metallica or dig up your old Abbatoir albums - but if you want quality headbanging, check this out.

Wasara: Kivisade: CDEP $5: Two track single from Finnish doom/death band. One excellent track in the vein of Katatonia/My Dying Bride styled doom and the other a short death/doom number.

Watchtower: Demonstrations in Chaos CD: $13
Mega rare issue of unreleased recordings from the enigmatic metal band that has influenced everyone from Dream Theatre to Death. This is the original recordings (a completely different recording session of the same songs) of their debut LP and in our minds a superior version at that. Technical and insane in approach and delivery. Excellent packaging.

Weedeater: Sixteen Tons: CD $13:
Much better (heavier) production this time round and that’s a good thing as it brings out the bands totally swamped in sludge sound. In the realms as Bongzilla, Eye Hate God etc… and just as good. Ultra sludge weed core, not stoner but Sabbath (Master of Reality) styled heaviness.

Weedeater - And Justice For Y'all CD $12
Do you like heavy? Do you like blower bass? Do you like Electric Wizard's guitar sound? Then let's jam to Weedeater for some heavy blower bass and Electric Wizard guitar sounds. Jeezus this is thick!

Well of Souls: S/T: CD $13
Texas based EPIC DOOM METAL that simply crushes like a bulldozer on wet pavement! Gigantic behemoth guitars weave a spell into your blackened heart while the precision drumming keeps the flow intact for the voice of doom to tell tales of pain, misery, battle and woe! Aimed straight for the Solitude Aeturnus, Candlemass, early Fates Warning fan but with plenty of extra to keep anyone into quality metal more than interested!

Well of Souls: The Awaken CD: $14
German orthodox doom metal. Old school crushing doom that pinches a little from each of the greats like Candlemass, Vitus, Pentagram, Trouble etc… This is a collection of their previously tape only recordings and strictly limited to 1000 copies so….

While Heaven Wept: Of Empires Forlorn CD: $17
Epic Doom Metal saviors return to us with a most mighty slab of lead weight! The perfect mix of progressive power, classical arrangements, and most importantly (of course!), total desolate doom!! Vocals are improved, sound quality is thick and meaty and the songs are, well… real songs!! Damn fine stuff for the serious student of doom.

Wind of the Black Mountains: Sing Thou Unholy Servants: CD $13:
One of our favorite Moribund releases without a doubt. This is black metal but with quite a bit of dark psychedelic eastern guitars flourishes thrown about to give it a bit more of “mystical” and “darkly flowing” atmosphere. Insane, other world screams of torment would be a close proximity to the vocals on this disc. Inventive songwriting that takes chances and never losing the dark, gloomy and hellish feeling of it’s satanic purpose. Get this one for something different yet familiar enough to keep that evil grin on your face going.

Winter - Into Darkness CD $12
A trip through complete and utterly depressing doom! The slowest doom ever with a sound somewhere near early Celtic Frost. Don't buy unless you crave the ultimate gloom trip.

Witch Mountain - Come to the Mountian CD $13
Assaulting orthodox doom metal from one of the finest new U.S. doom metal units. Aggressive and pure. Doomed for all true heavy maniacs. This is tons better than the E.P. released last year and that wasn’t too bad either! Get it

Witchcraft: S/T: CD $14:
I swear that if you worship the first Sabbath album and bow to the altar of 70's era Pentagram you are going to freak on this album!! Unbelievably heavy and raw with a true doom vibe this album sounds ironically fresh in today's scene. Guitars are not overly heavy/fuzzed out but it actually makes for an overall sludgy and thick as mud sound! Add some nice Jethro Tull'ish progressive parts and you've got one killer record. Easily a top record this year and constantly spinning over here at Brainticket HQ. For fans of the bands above and Vitus, Witchfinder General, Norskin, Dust, Sir Lord Baltimore, Bang, Trouble, etc....

Witchfinder General: Death Penalty: CD $19
All time classic band now available on CD. These guys were the originators (besides Sabbath of course!) of doom metal. Originally released in ’80, this was the first attempt to take the Sabbath sound to higher and heavier levels. Explore the roots of modern doom heavy metal.

Witchfinder General: Freinds of Hell: CD $19
Their second album and even better than the first! Heavier production and uncanny songwriting, this will stretch your wretched skull into gloom heaven! Walls of Sabbath-esque guitar work invade every corner of your cube. Anyone who doesn't have this in their collection is dead.

Yearning - Plaintive Scenes CD $17

Symphonic epic doom monumental metal! Very high class, some low vocal growls, female vox, huge sound and depressing vibe.

Yearning - With Tragedies Adorned CD $17
New from Holy records and what a great one it is! A myriad of gothic sadness and doom metal with complex arrangements. Gothic styled vocals lend to the overall solemn atmosphere of this work. As usual the packaging from Holy is the best that there is with a 10 page booklet included! Diverse and refreshing.

YOB: Catharsis: CD $14: Unreal blown out doom with a progressive and aggressive stance. Really hard to describe but think Sleep, Melvins and High on Fire but with some truly bizarre vocals thrown into the mix. These guys fuggin’ rool and are one of the best one most original U.S. doom bands around!

YOB: Elaboration of Carbon CD $14
Finally an official release of the first recordings from this most awesome west coast doom band. Coming across like a totally warped version of Black Sabbath meets early Rush. Complex arrangements and unorthodox songwriting truly make this worthy of your time.
